FAQs

How can you buy an a saddle pad or treat bag?

Saddle pads, treat bags and belts can all be purchased in our Etsy store. Follow the link below, and make one yours today!

Why are some saddle pads more expensive than others?

Saddle pads are priced according to their complexity. For example, some saddle pads will have a complex design and custom piping to match, which increases the time it takes to make the pad. All Air to Ground Equine saddle pads are made by hand from start to finish by us including the piecing of the patterns, quilting of the pads and the final binding. No portions of the pads are outsourced to a third party at any time.

What type of materials are used in the pads?

All Air to Ground Equine saddle pads are made with natural products such as cotton, including the batting. The exception to this will be some manufactured decorative trims and pouch snaps which may contain synthetic fibres. All fabric, including the batting, is pre washed to help ensure the saddle pad retains it shape, and to help prevent colours running as much as possible (especially on a sweaty horse!).

How do I care for my saddle pad?

Air to Ground Equine recommends that you brush any excess hair from your saddle pad & shake out your treat bag to remove any food particles before you wash it. Cold water wash on a gentle cycle and hang to dry. Do not use bleach when washing your pad or bag as it will alter the colour and break down the natural fibres.

How do I care for my treat bag?

Ride/walk/train, feed, wash, repeat!

We ecommend that you gently brush any excess hair or dirt and turn the lining inside out to remove any treat residue from your treat bag before you wash it. Cold water wash on a gentle cycle and hang to dry. Do not use bleach when washing your treat bag as it will alter the colour and break down the natural fibres.

The lining can be pulled from the bag for easy rinsing or wiping with a damp cloth.

Why are there no billot straps on my saddle pads?

Billot straps are optional on Air to Ground Equine saddle pads, but can be added for a small additional fee. We found, through long experience that they were seldom used, or even cut off but we still wanted to provide you with the option of having them!

How thick are Air to Ground Equine saddle pads?

All Air to Ground Equine saddle pads contain three layers of cotton or bamboo quilt bat. Two layers comprise the entire pad, and the third is located over the withers. That, combined with the fabric makes each pad ~1/2" in thickness over the wither and seat areas. The spine of each pad is additionally reinforced to help keep the pad in place when pulled up off the withers into the gullet of the saddle. While cheaper, foam and Nu-foam compressed polyester, due to their inability to wick away sweat, reduce heat, and their tendency to compress and break down more easily are never used in our saddle pads.

Air to Ground Equine saddle pads are compatible for use with half pads if your horse requires additional padding over the withers and seat.
